The Bed-Down Manufacturing PlantBed-Down products are manufactured at one of the most advanced animal bedding plants in Europe. This highly sophisticated process co-ordinates robotics, hydraulics and electronics to make high quality bales. The Bed-Down bales made here at the Metfield site are dust extracted 14 times and 3 types of sieve are used to extract any foreign objects from the raw materials ensuring a clean and highly dust reduced bedding. This means that Bed-Down products are consistently made to a high standard required and expected by our customers. In 2003 the machinery has become fully integrated. The PLC has been linked to a PC via an interface. This is to allow for smoother running of the production line and it means that any part of the manufacturing plant can be viewed using a computer screen. This means that all aspects of the process can be analysed and can be monitored accurately, ensuring an even better product for our customers. Improvements to the baler have also meant that the rate of production has increased in the autumn of 2003 by nearly 30%. This means that more people and horses can benefit from the high quality Bed-Down bales.
