Bed-Down Traditional is also quicker, cleaner and easier to use than long straw and easier to store. The fragrance is a very effective unappetiser making Bed-Down Traditional suitable for horses that are on a restricted diet.
Bed-Down Traditional is made from sustainable wheat straw and will degrade in 3-6 months. As it is more absorbent than long straw Bed-Down Traditional will keep your muck heap smaller and more manageable.
Bed-Down Traditional is also great for poultry and game birds
Bed-Down Traditional can be used with rubber matting or conventional stable flooring. It can be mixed in with some other bedding products during the change over period however the full benefits of using Traditional will not be experienced until all the old bedding has gone. Traditional should be added to the existing bedding by putting it to the outside of the bed and gradually moving the existing bedding into the centre as more Traditional is added. Keep adding Traditional to the outside of the bed until all the old bedding has been removed. Traditional can be mucked out fully daily or by using a semi deep litter method as below:
To Start – use approximately 6 bales (12 x 12 stable) to start the bed. This will make a deep and comfortable bed.
Daily – Remove droppings on a daily basis and tidy bed.
Weekly – Remove the wet patch and top up the bed with fresh Traditional. You can easily split a bale of Traditional in half by following the instructions on the packaging.
