By implementing innovative strategies, we aim to conserve resources, minimise waste and lower our environmental impact. Here’s how we’re making a difference:
We installed solar panels to generate clean energy, supplying a significant portion of our electricity needs. This reduces our dependence on fossil fuels and helps lower our carbon emissions. We use biomass boilers, too. By utilising organic materials as fuel, our biomass boilers provide an environmentally friendly heating solution, further cutting down our reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
Eco-conscious packaging doesn’t cost the earth. Our horse and animal bedding packaging materials are designed with sustainability in mind. We use durable yet environmentally friendly stretch-wrap, and all our packaging is recyclable to reduce waste and encourage responsible disposal. To reduce plastic waste, we incorporate 30% reusable plastic in our products, lowering the demand for virgin plastic production and decreasing our overall environmental footprint.
And then there’s dust repurposing: instead of simply discarding the dust extracted from our horse and animal bedding, we repurpose it into pellets and sawdust, which are then supplied to the poultry industry. This approach minimises waste while creating a valuable resource for agricultural use. Furthermore, we make a point of sourcing straw from nearby farms. As a by-product of agriculture, locally sourcing straw not only supports regional farmers but also reduces emissions associated with transportation.
Optimised machinery makes all the difference. Our equipment is designed to operate at peak efficiency, reducing energy consumption and ensuring minimal waste in the production process. We continuously explore new technologies that enhance efficiency while reducing environmental impact, ensuring that our operations remain as sustainable as possible.
We look after wildlife habitats: we maintain green spaces on our land to support local wildlife and promote biodiversity.
Finally, we use fuel-efficient vehicles. Our investment in fuel-efficient transport, such as our Volvo lorry, ensures that our logistics operations are more sustainable, further lowering emissions.
